A lot of sonars get really awkward when using the gps because everything is dedicated towards the sonar, is there a product that’s the opposite? I need the depth reading otherwise I’d just get a cheap gps. This boat will mainly be used for exploring with some fishing but not enough for side scan etc (clear vu level stuff is good enough) so having good detailed maps/depth charts is a big plus. Thanks!

Any fish finder that has gps and chartplotting ability will do what you’re asking. Fish finders with bigger screens and better processors will be able to render charts much faster. The quality and information in the chart will vary depending on what charts you buy – companies like Navionics and C-Map have varying tiers of charts at different price points.
GPS is a pretty basic function… it just shows your position on the map and a trail behind you where you’ve been. Any GPS-equipped fish finder will be able to do this pretty much the same.
Any Garmin with latest Navionics marine charts is god tier navigation on water.
