I’ve even pinched the barbs off, and fish just inhale this thing make it impossible to remove without really hurting them. I know Blue Fox gives you a single hook to switch their spinners from the treble hook but don’t see that with these

A lot of times they have a split ring on the hook so you can just change it out for a single barbless
I cut the treble hook off mine and replace them with a barbless siwash hook.
Use bigger ones if they are swallowing them whole.
You just need to set the hook right away

Walmart has them
I fish the creek near my house for smallmouth bass and walleye almost exclusively with rooster tails and have never had an issue with a fish swallowing one. I would say you are either retrieving too slow or are using too small a lure for the fish you are targeting. You can certainly throw a single hook on there by it shouldn’t be necessary
You’re setting the hook way too slowly. I have never gut hooked a fish on an in-line in my life and I use them almost daily for the last twenty years.
Just take pliers and press the barbs down, or take a fish hook sharpener file and file off the barbs. Some places actually require barbless hooks and it’s considered barbless when you can pull it across your fingernail and the barb doesn’t dig into your nail.
