Not getting much action

Trying to catch any type of bass or carp. Are my
Hooks too big/ too small. Should I get weights too? I’m getting bites but nothing solid most times with my nightcrawlers or fake worm. I will add that I have been fishing late like 6-8pm

    It’s very rare for a carp to eat those types of lures, but it can happen.

    I’d look for a spot that very few people fish at. If too many people fish somewhere, the fish become wary and will avoid the popular fishing spots.

    Basically, find your own secret spot, and a less-visited lake. Also, make sure to use the proper lure colors for the water clarity! Good luck!

    Trying a good swim jig or chatterbait. Match colors to water and weather and try different colors. Keep trying different lures and colors until something works.

    These slap in the 4” for me.

    Get crappie jig heads in whatever variety you think looks good to you. And you WILL catch fish

    Probably not carp, but all variations of bass will smoke that thing.

    Literally just cast it, it it sink some and then slow retrieve. If you aren’t getting bites the fish ain’t in that spot you casted.

    For advice on your current setup, you are running long baits, large even.

    If a bass doesn’t hit strongly when your bait hits the water with those baits you are using. But you are “getting bites”. Then you’re not allowing the fish to actually eat the senko before you try and set the hook.

    Honestly, this is bad advice for the fish themselves and their long term health. But you likely need to learn some patience.

    Let a bass nibble on that thing, feel the bite, and still chill. Let them gut hook themselves so that you can learn that bass aren’t aggressive most of the time. So that you can learn that you can have a large bass tug on your senko worm for a long time before they get the hook in their mouth.

    Most of the time they are lazy eaters, they are not hard snatching that worm, they’re coming up to it, and slowing vacuuming it into their mouths, maybe some lady and the tramp levels of spaghetti eating.

    If you yank early, well the hook was never in their mouth, so all you did was tease them. You cannot catch a fish that doesn’t have the hook in its mouth yet, they do not often just run up and snatch that whole worm.

    So, I recommended something smaller that they tend to get all the way into their mouth on the jump so that you can get fish, if that’s working and you’re having a good day getting small fish and bites, maybe then move up to the senko for the bigger ones. But know that bigger ones don’t often hit your bat hard, they are lazy fat fucks.
