I go out bass fishing but noticed some fairly big carp around 7-10 lbs today I decided to throw some corn on my three foot ugly stik and it was immediately bit. However it took my rod because I wasn’t watching and after diving in I had it on. I fought a good 10 minutes and got it within three feet before the line broke. I tried again and another bit but another broke line. How my rod didn’t break is beyond me but these carp have become my moby dick arch. I live in a rural area and am looking for a set up that can land carp but not a whole carp set up as I would like to use it also for trout/bass. Some local rods with photos are

Beef stick: affordable but I’ve heard it’s heavy and the YouTube tutorial on cat/carp with outdoor boys guy didn’t make it sound like a good option

Ugly stik Shakespeare: 8 foot long and I would prefer a smaller one

CASCADE PRO ELITE: like the length unsure of the strength

I will probably spin my other reel

But I did have 15 monoliner today and it snapped
So any recommendations for line would be great
It’s a nice open hole but some weeds and large rocks nearby

I appreciate any help and I will get these fish

Also, how do I know the setting for the drag?
