My friend gave me this saying, “If you can fix the reel you can keep it.” The line only casts a certain distance and only reels back a certain distance and I really wanna have this, so can anyone help? (Sorry if this isn’t the right sub, please feel free to redirect me to the correct sub!)

Line probably has a snag or knot somewhere deep in the reel that stops it from going in or out further.
Cut the line off the reel entirely, check for any issues and see if it works with no line, if it works and reels freely, put new line on and enjoy a free reel
