I always see these kind of posts like "have been going for 1 week or 1 month and haven't caught a thing", so here is an easy solution in several steps:

  1. get an ugly stick rod: GX2 or a black widow pole: black widow 13 , these two both are pretty cheap and durable and come ready with the net, black widow is perfect for panfish.

  2. get a size 4 or 6 hook some split shot weights (and a bobber if you want), attach them to the net (its pretty easy to do so).

  3. get some nightcrawler worms ("almost" all the fish like them), you can also use shrimp for bass or corn for carp.

  4. use fishbrain app: fishbrain to see the spots for fishing around you

  5. go fishing either 5am-11am or 4pm-8pm , these are usually best hours to catch most fish.

  6. panfish stay near top of water, bass move up and down and carp and catfish are almost always in the bottom.

  7. if you haven't caught a fish in half an hour change location to some other place nearby.

I have been using these simple rules and so far have caught all kind of panfish, rock bass, carp and even some catfish (despite not targeting them).
