Been having a slow year overall when I went out Sunday. I had gotten a handful of smaller bass earlier but it was generally slow. I knew the overcast skies wouldn't last much longer, bringing the sun and the heat, so I was probably going to be done within the hour.

I was down to my last few casts before I called it quits when this guy hammered my Easy Shiner. He beelined right to the thick weeds and I had to horse him out a long with 10 pounds of weeds – thank God for braid, I think I am done with mono forever.

My spring scale has him around 6lbs, about 22" long. Funny enough my biggest bass ever also came out of this small 8 acre pond. Not bad for the dog days of August
