i have a size 1000 reel spooled with 4lb line that ive been using for trout but want to give flounder a go in the estuary near me. ive got a 7ft light rod and a 7ft medium ugly stik that i can use.
Ill be fishing the start of the estuary about 6 miles from the sea. probably ledgering with lugworm

Get a 2500 or larger saltwater reel. 10 lbs minimum line.
You could get away with less, but I wouldn’t.
