I have some ozark trail wayfarer rod and reel combo
But I want an upgrade and don’t really have the budget for a high end rod anyone have any budget rods or reels I should invest in

Yes this is the combo I use it’s lasted me a year n a half 😭 surprisingly

If you have the money for it, an Ugly Stik ultralight spinning combo. It’s $45-$55 at Walmart and it’s pretty good. I use it as my main rod. They are downright unbreakable. I’m never worried i’m gonna snap it. The reel is satisfactory, but not gonna blow you away. There’s also the GX2 which pretty much everyone here recommends, which is a standard size rod for just a little bit more.

I have this this one. I dont know exactly how the 2 sticks go together, I just snuggly shoved it in the other and its a good fit. HOWEVER <—- it will come off. Specifically when you get your hooked snagged and youre shaking the rod left and right to get the hook released. Mine came off, slid down the line and goodbye upperhalf. Now I need a new rod. I recommend at least some electrical tape on that thing lol.
