Was fishing a deep river in Oregon with and ultralight rod with 15lb braided line. Was just hoping to catch some small bass or panfish. Something grabbed it and went DOWN, bent my rod almost completely in half I can’t believe it didn’t snap… fought me pretty slowly for a while before the line snapped.

Don’t think it was a big bass or steelhead because I’ve fought those and they jump out of the water and all that. I’ve never fished for catfish before so maybe it was that?

Yes I’ve caught plenty of channel catfish on those and while using drop shots or any soft plastic while bass fishing the snake river

Catfish will eat anything my buddy caught a big one on a soft plastic lizard so ya I bet it could have been a catfish that bit your grub

  3. Doubt it. Catfish have tiny eyes and wouldn’t be able to see or feel anything so small. A snapping turtle might be to blame if it took your lure straight to the bottom with so much force
