I rinse it thoroughly after each outing with a hose, leave it drying in the garage.

Drying there is not as fast as I'd like, I think I'll get a dehumidifier.

Its a cheap reel at 40eur, goes combined with a 25eur fiberglass rod for an affordable combo that can be abused. The reel is supposed to be for boat use, so I thought it would be more resistant to saltwater.

The felt on the black disks wore out and made an orange paste with the rust from the metal disks, that solidifed and blocked the spool. After some cleaning and greasing it works again but the internals are obviously affected.

I was planning to visit the fishing shop today and buy new disks made of a non-rust material, like carbon fiber. Also a new bb for the spool, its blocked as well. That should fix the blockage long term, but the internals of the spool I'm more worried…

I heard there are "open" reels that will rinse better? what to look for? Or how to maintain this one? I dont want it to be high maintenance, ideally it would be made of rust proof materials and I'd grease it once per season or so… haha call me an idealist
