Just spooled my first reel. I saw a little line and spooled until I reached that line. Did I use enough?

No. Line should be about 1/8” from the edge of the spool. The line on the spool is so you know about how much line you have left after casting or if a fish is peeling off drag

Pull up a google image of a full spool and just try to get it close to that.

I agree. A good rule of thumb for any reel, even a hair cut. You can always take it off but it’s hard to add it back.

It’ll fish, but your distance may suffer. If you’re drop line fishing, it won’t matter.
