I just got into sea offshore casting and bought some lures with different colors and sizes and didn’t catch any fish bigger than a hand

  1. Independent-Air-80 on

The 60g casting jigs are heavy enough to toss far enough. The smaller hardplastics would work well in a harbor maybe, but (in my opinion) aren’t that great for coastal fishing.

Have you tried things like a carolina rig, a ‘fish finder’ rig, or a double drop bottom rig? Go get some good softplastics if you don’t have any baitshacks nearby, and dunk those suckers in a sardine can. Let them soak up that oil. Then try one of the rigs above (but, again, you need some decent sinker weight to toss them far enough).

  2. They don’t call it “catching” for a reason ;-). But not getting skunked is a win, particularly if you’re just starting.

Your lures are really varied in how they are designed to be fished. Do you know how to use them?
