depends on how you want it to fish. i’ll trim them occasionally, usually when i have multiple of the same jig. sort of also depends on the trailer you are using. for example i have two of the same 1/4oz swim jigs i use often, one has a trimmed skirt and the other doesn’t. i use the trimmed one with slimmer and more “finesse-y” style trailers that don’t reach as far below the skirt, and i use longer trailers on the untrimmed one. trimmed i like using the bass pro elite chunk craw, and untrimmed i like strike king rage menace or rage craws
