Avid fisherman, looking to improve gear knowledge so I took apart a cheap reel to grease and put back together.
The last piece of the puzzle is this guy. I couldn’t close the plastic cover properly no matter the configuration but this seems like the only possible orientation to me.
I took it out and the reel seems fine. Is this an important part? Or am I ok to leave it out
