I just started fishing about 2 weeks ago and I have been out every single day since! So far I have caught 2 Large carps, 1 rock bass, 1 black crappie, and I what I believe was a lake herring.
I Live in Michigan near Lake Erie but go to rivers most of my time. My questions are pretty simple hopefully.
-
How do weather conditions affect fishing and what will the upcoming fall be like. Any tips on how to fish in different seasons would be nice or any place where I can learn about this stuff would help.
-
What apps do you use to find popular fishing spots and what species is in the areas you're looking.
-
Other than YouTube where can I learn what baits and lures are the most effective for fishing in my region.
-
What type of fishing wires do you all prefer, I know it's situational but I feel like I get mixed results using either mono or braided.
-
Can you fly fish using a regular rod and spin reel? Because if so I failed miserably lol.
Hopefully that wasn't too many questions. So far I love the hobby and my favorite part is learning new things along the way so any information is greatly appreciated! Good luck out there!

Hot weather will make the fish go deep into cooler water.
YouTube university is awesome.
Fishing line is up to the operator. I use braid on fish with sharp teeth. Salmon and muskee mostly. I like mono for most other things. It really hides in the water.
You can fly fish with a spin rod. Casting will be super hard unless you have a 10+ foot surf rod. That might be a good question for YouTube university though. But it would really hard to manage line with a standard length spin rod.
