Hi! I am trying to fish for lake trout at finger lakes and a local suggested me to use "float jig." I'm not totally sure of the concept, could someone explain what it is
It seems like some people are confusing my questions with bobber fishing. One that I am confused about is https://www.basspro.com/p/vmc-hover-floating-jighead
The local said to do 1oz egg sinker with 1-2ft lead and the floating jig by itself, no bait.

I catch them with a red devil at night.
just a jig-head lure under a bobber. i use bait on a hook but that’s just me. i mean if i’m gonna be “jigging” i use them as the lures they are. otherwise you’re limited to the length of line under your bobber and zero action besides moving with the flow. not saying they don’t work, but i’m not a big bobber guy either. someone else here might be better at jig floating
Here you go: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo2tApehRB0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo2tApehRB0)
When are you going? If it’s now, find 100’ of water and get a 3/4 or 1oz jig head with a 4” white plastic. Bounce the bottom a few times and reel it quickly to the surface. Repeat until a fish bites.
