I’m gonna throw one of these on a 15’ surf rod from ugly stik for shark fishing. Trying to decide which one to get. Would like a 10000 or bigger if you have different recommendations

I have both,personally I like the battles a bit more but i dont get them splashed in the surfthat much,the spinfisher is a bit heavier but I think a bit more sealed then the battle if you think you will have it close to the water or where it can get dunked.The slammers are also really nice if you want the liveliner option.

Spinfishers are awesome. I use them on all my surf setups and they hold up really well to sand and dunking. My shark rod is a spinfisher 8500 live liner, 80# braid, on a 12’ heavy Penn battallion II rod. I’ve landed many sharks around the 6 foot range on that setup and it handles them great!

Also, the spinfisher 6 and 7’s are pretty much identical in size 6500 and up. The 7 has brass gears in all models, used to only be 6500 and up that had brass on the 6’s. 7 added a line clip which is mildly convenient. I have both, I’d get a 6 if you can find a good deal on it, not worth upgrading to the 7 unless you’re doing a 4500 on a lighter setup 🤙

I have a few Battle III’s that I love for freshwater. I’d go with the spin fisher in salt though for it’s better seals from salt/sands.

I tried my friend’s new spinfisher, I liked it and it’s an excellent reel no doubt.. but I finally got a Saltist MQ 4000 since it felt better in my hand.

Built like a tank, and if you’re surf fishing you’ll appreciate the IPX6 sealing.
