This is what I throw currently.
I had an older guy at my local dunhams set me up with a good beginner combo. I actually liked how it felt but unfortunately it broke in the back of my truck after using it just a handful of times.
When it broke, I was on my way to a camping trip. Having broke my rod, I stopped at another relatively big outdoors store on my way to camp to get a new rod. I told them what I had before (which I believe was a 6’8” medium rod) and this is what they told me would be very similar.
I am a little on the shorter side (5’8”) and this 7’ rod feels like it’s huge. I’m constantly hitting it on something when either throwing it or just walking to my spot.
I was at bass pro this evening looking at some new combos and found I like the shorter rod but can’t seem to find anything that is under 7’ and just a medium rod. They were all medium heavy. Do they make such a thing?
Also, what would recommend for a good rod from bass pro? I have never thrown a bait caster just a spinner but I would like to get one eventually.

I have a 6’9” Medium fast Dobyns I like. And they make them from $50-$500 so it’ll always fit your budget.
Edit: I’m mostly fishing for bass in my local spot by my house.
Also, I am male, the painted nails are my wives and I’m out of town for work but wanted to nerd out on fishing rods for a bit so I had her send me pics of my gear!
