Im very new to fishing and most of the areas around me have big rocks around the edges. First time went fishing i lost a 10 dollar lure and it wasn’t even in the water, of course im to blame for being an idiot and using a heavy lure in a rocky area. What type of lures or what kind of setup should i use?. Im fishing saltwater from shore and using 22lbs mono line (where i lost the lure has much bigger rocks then what is shown in the picture)

very carefully
Use caution when fishing rocks use whatever rig you want just be extra cautious
If you’re gonna fish on bottom a football jig is probably your best bet. Otherwise fish stuff that’s gonna stay off bottom and out of the rocks.
Use cheap lures, lol
I try to fish top water, shallow diving and weedless like flukes, I find that fish will usually hide under the rocks and if something swims over them a few times they will attack
Fish in water, no fish in rock.
I used round balls weights or stick shapes. Use a 3 way swivel and have a lighter line attaching your weight so when you snag you break the weight off and not the whole rig.
It’s also a lot of trial and error. In my spots I lost a lot of rigs to snags and it sucked bad but it was all I had to fish. I just learned where to cast for the least amount of snags.
Slip bobbers are also great to keep the rig off the bottom
put on some appropriate shoes for starters
Smash squarebills into them.
Bounce crankbaits off of them
Uhh I’m a beginner too but the round sinker helps
We need some specifics here. Where are you and what species are you fishing for?
Float. It hangs the lure or bait, and hook over the rocks without getting caught up and snagged.
Learn to float and adjust float and leader length for the water depth
