Trim the skirt a little. I never use a trailer.

I use a Sakamata shad, Hazedong, or no trailer at all. BassPuzzle YouTube channel has some great videos on it, albeit in Japanese.
The HookUpTackle also has a couple videos on it & one with Hikaru himself. In one of the videos if I remember correctly, he explains it’s meant to be used with no trailer or non traditional paddle tail types.
