Just picked up the new Curado with MGL III spool. Wasn’t free spooling great so I broke it down, degreased bearing, oiled the bearings, re-greased all gears etc…and the thing is still just not spinning like my curado dc, mgl 70, lews bb1 pro. Just seems like she’s getting choked somewhere. Spoil tension knob is relaxed, drag is medium…any help??

Some reels just don’t have great free spool. That being said, the ability of the spool to spin by itself doesn’t determine the casting range.
I have some old as sin bushing supported reels that still cast excellent. I have an slx that freespools forever and an slx that doesn’t. They both get the same distance.

Free spool doesn’t mean anything. My Metanium doesn’t free spool either and it bomb casts.
