Always hated how most baitcasters don’t have a clicking system so this is the best modification I’ve done, and no it doesn’t weaken your drag, it actually improves it.

Fighting a fish feels much better and “exciting” when you land a good one too.

I thought they same thing, then realized… the bait clicker is really nice when you set your rod and reel down and don’t have to watch it, but is completely unnecessary on a baitcaster, since lures are always moving….

  2. Pm me how you did it please as am looking at a new reel for my sg4 rod but as you say I miss hearing the sweet noise of a fish fighting 🤔

    Hate drag clicker.
Only time I would ever want is live baiting stationary sit and forget.
It’s horrible noise when lure fishing holding rod.. if you can’t notice if your drag is being taken while actively fishing. There is someone wrong with you.

  4. Personal opinion.

I’ve been casting since the late 90’s and never once needed a drag clicker for any auditory satisfaction from a casting reel.

Likewise from a spin reel, if it didn’t come with one I’d be as happy.

Just wondering when we’ll see brake clackers on cars and bikes?

Is this a mine is louder or flashier than yours response on everything we see today?

  5. Lots of opinions on here, this is mine.

Man, I love to hear a drag scream. I always leave the drag a little loose, its an audible signal that I’ve hooked a beast. I also like to spool my reel with line thats a little light and fish rods that are a little light, lol. It hard to explain why, but if you’ve ever caught a lunker on an ultra light, there’s a chance you understand where Im coming from. That drag screaming is why I rarely get out the baitcasters, I have them and use them where its absolutely the correct tool, but I would use them more if they talked to me.
