I got to try my new panfish setup tonight: Echo River Glass fiberglass 4W rod with Orvis Battenkill click and pawl reel.
It allowed for a much more delicate presentation than my 6W rod, but I was surprised that the “bite and fight” didn’t seem to feel significantly bigger. Maybe I was expecting too much from a 4W with small fish. I didn’t want to go smaller with a 2W or 3W due to being limited on fly size. I plan on using it for some bass and trout fishing, too.
