Will be in staying in Marathon key the Sept. 23-30 we plan on renting two Hobie peddle drive kayaks for the whole trip. We did the same thing last year and had a great time catching snapper and a couple barracudas. Wanna catch more diversity this trip like snook, speckled trout maybe some juvenile tarpon. Looking for some tips on bait, techniques and other helpful things. Also looking for some better backcountry kayaking spots was thinking of using the Blimp road access and hitting that area.

Get ready for the wind. In the fall, the Keys can get blowy. While the real wind starts in November, you can have very stiff days in Sept/October, with an average of 9mph. But I saw 40mph winds on Thanksgiving there when I camped and was afraid to boat and fished only in theory.
Therefore, be ready with a drift sock, sand anchor (bag of sand that drags). Pivot from topwater if it’s windy.
Hit the mangroves for more variety.
