I’ve been getting back into fly fishing after a couple year hiatus for no particular reason. The other night I was out fishing on a local mountain creek and had a great time. I was fishing a hopper dropper rig at first, the fish liked the copper Johns. Mostly was getting little wild rainbows, and a couple of juvenile whitefish. Then mayflies start hatching so I tied on a mayfly dry and a soft hackle ~18” down. The weekend prior, I’d lost a decent fish in a seam so I fished it again and got that brook trout on the soft hackle. It wasn’t a large fish but he sure had some pep to his step.
