Never seen a trout like this. Had some injuries on its back that I assume came from the osprey making laps around the lake. Anyone ever see or catch a similar trout?

  1. They change color as slime is removed. If you’ve ever seen a newer angler drop a trout on the ground, you’ll see when they pick it up and dust it off the fish is suddenly two toned. Very bad for the fish. They usually don’t survive long like this

  2. I would guess this from the fish hatchery screwing with the genetics. I’ve seen pure black rainbows, a rainbow with a giant head and a tiny body and rainbows built like largemouth bass. MA

  3. Having a background in fisheries and fish culture, this is likely caused by stress due to injury, infection or some other stressor.

He forgot to sunscreen his head. Thats why I carry a bottle in my waders. Help them get full coverage before releasing them.
