I’m going to try and get a top water fish. I haven’t put any time in with these yet because I’m still learning how to bass fish in general. After the level of activity I saw today I think I could have a chance.
Which size/color should I start with? I’m looking for maximum odds but there are a TON of 1 lb fish and smaller that are really active right now.
A 5 lb fish would be considered large on the lake I fish. Any tips are appreciated. Last question, should I use a swivel? I’ve casted them before and I recall getting a fair amount of line twist.
Thanks.

Black is generally a safe bet. I guess the dark outline is easier for them to see?
Honestly the white / bone color works the best for me
Match the hatch.
Depends on the water colour and light.
I have mine tied on to bait casters, lure-> knot-> fluorocarbon -> Albright knot -> 30 pound braid.
My go to colours are the loon and perch. I’ve been getting good action here with the perch the last few weeks.
I prefer the next size up, I’ve gotten some nice 19 inch large mouth with them and even bigger smallies. I find I have less trouble getting the bigger hooks off them and I get a lot of pike after me and they don’t swallow them whole. But these do just fine too.
I’ve had lots of success with the clear/natural looking color.
You should throw all of them on an umbrella rig
