So I have a telescoping daiwa rod I was gifted, but I am a saltwater fisher that has little to no experience in freshwater. I would love to start using it around some lakes and freshwater bodies but have trouble understanding what this rod is capable of.

I currently have it set up with a daiwa bg2500 and spooled with either 4 or 6lb mono. I’ve linked the rod and reel below for more specifics but any advice and knowledge is appreciated! I don’t know how big of fish I can target or if this can handle bass or it’s just something like a bluegill/trout rod
 thanks!

even with 4lb mono you can probably land intermediate size bass with this Light power rod. I have an Ultralight rod with a 500 size reel and 6lb braid and I pull in 14″ largemouth bass. Learn to set your drag correctly and be clever about how you fight stubborn fish and you can pull in much larger fish than you might think.
