So! I’m not necessarily looking for an exact location. I’m more asking about type of waters to target. I am looking to catch a lot of fish. I don’t care about size/quality. I’m just trying to learn for now. What type of waters would you suggest for a new fly fisherman?
Dark blue = class 3
Light blue = class 2
Green = class 1
Gold = gold waters
So, I’m thinking the blues would be way less busy, less pressured. So maybe the fish are easier to catch? Or, do the gold and green waters simply have way more fish, and therefore easier to catch?
What do you think?

Ya any small “blue line” high up will usually hold a lot of hungry brook trout.
Beaver ponds are good targets as well.
Go out and explore
For a new fly fisherman, you should find somewhere to practice casting and just get a general feel before you get onto smaller water or more technical stuff.
In this radius, would suggest the following place that would be good to practice
– Evergreen Lake
– Pine Valley Ranch Park (lake and river)
– Staunton Park @ Davis Ponds
Lots of the popular areas like Deckers, Waterton and Bear Creek might pose a frustrating challenge with either fishing that’s super technical, or difficulty casting.
Just my two cents.
