Alright so funny story (kind of) I had my euro rig and did everything i usually do that produces well where im pictured. Its a deep run in front and quite long. When the water level is better its nice and fast. Got nothing. Saw a bunch of stuff hatching an hour before sun dropped.

I tied basically just like 8 feet of 6lb mono on my tippet ring off the micro leader to an elk hair (my fav dry) and it got slammed by 2 rainbows, one rock bass, and chased for prob another 3 fish that swiped at it (and i missed a good 3 or 4 hooksets, cracking up.) It wasnt a dropper or anything, just one of those days where you sit on the riverbank and laugh and wonder why something so weird worked lol.

I usually have my st croix 2 pc with a tapered leader down to a 5x or 6 or 6x and very "traditional" setup for dries, if i nymph i really only prefer a point fly setup w tight line and thats it. What you guys use as your "go to" dry rigs? Just curious. I love the elk, and parachute and diff variations of stims. I just thought it was super cool that this worked on a day where otherwise i was skunk city and not prepared w my dry setup. (Yes i know you can do tags and dry droppers etc but i just wanted to try something unconventional and see if it worked.)

Also- how often in between drifts do you guys apply floatant? I feel like some of my dries get saturated pretty quick when i fish the fast deep runs. Thanks and tight lines!
