Why cut it? Texas rig would be fine, or a shaky head, or wacky rig

Hook it sideways through the smooth part, add sinkers, and bounce it similar to if you Texas rigged it

Yes and yes but there are multiple ways to fish stick baits. My favorite is a wacky rig

Endless possibilities with those things. If you’re not get bites with the rigs others have mentioned. You can definitely cut it in half and throw it as a ned rid.

One of my faves in a pinch is to pinch off the top 2-3 inches and thread it onto a jighead to make a little ned rig
