Hey guys, I just landed my first musky on the fly, but it bent out my snap while I was handling the fish and ended up swimming away with my fly. I’m thinking about using single strand wire to make new leaders with haywire twists to heavy snaps, but I’m concerned the wire will kink. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My setup currently is a 9’ 8wt Clearwater. Reddington rise 7/8 reel with floating line. Leader is about 5’ of 50lb mono to a standard 30lb wire leader with a snap on it.

Ps, if this won’t work I’ll go with knottable wire. I just wanted to try using what I already had available if it would get the job done. Thanks.
