Spot from my favourite provincial park that closed early this year. Amazing smallmouth fishery, but I was wondering how well a 5 wt might handle them with the current being this fast?

should be fine as long as you can cast the fly you want to fish

Just as easily as it would handle trout in such water. It depends on the holder of the rod.

Literally the only limiting factor of a 5wt would be the ability to handle larger flies. The fish size and current can be handled with 5wt.
