still a work in progress, needs a good sanding, sandblast, and powder coat. But a fun project if you got one laying around

Interesting. Hadn’t occurred to me to use a reel for art but they are mechanically interesting devices. Maybe an clear side plate so you can see the gears? Not sure what material would be durable and clear. Acrylic?
