I’ve been fishing my whole life, but I only picked up fly fishing at the end of June without knowing a thing. Since then, I’ve been teaching myself through YouTube videos, time on the water, and plenty of trial and error.
There’s been a lot of close calls—hookups that didn’t stick, a brown over 18 inches that slipped away right at my feet, and more tough losses than I can count. But every one of those moments is what pulled me back to the river.
Landing this brown felt like one of my most rewarding fish yet—not because of its size, but because of the journey it took to get here.
These past few months have shown me that fly fishing isn’t just about chasing fish. It’s about patience, slowing down, and enjoying the process as much as the reward.
