Would this work for ultralight bass fishing? I heard more sensitive rods is more fun

  1. Every fish is a whale on an ultralight with 2lb test!

    This is in fact fun.

I caught a 4.7 lb fish on ultralight and it was the most exhilarating catch you could imagine.

  2. This is what I use with a 1000 reel and 2# mono. It’s a lot of fun, I have landed everything from a micro sized blue gill to a 4# bass on it.

  3. I’m not a fan of shakespere gear but the MicroSeries rods are great for their price. The reels are not so great but all in all, for the price it’s a great combo to get into ultralite fishing. Best way to make it even better is to change the cheap.line for a 2 or 3lb test quality mono.

I typically dont ever use less than 6lb except for trout but 4’6″ is pretty dang small if you get a hold of a 5lber. It’s doable but I highly doubt it’s gonna be the experience you think it will. I have a diawa Laguna that I have caught 5lbers on and it’s def a work of skill and art to get em in. Here it is if you want a budget rod to give it a shot
