Long story short, went fishing and by a miracle I got my rod and reel back I lost a month ago! Did a lot of TLC to remove all the algea and barnacles, but need to get the residue off. I've seen 900 ways online and I guess I'm looking for 900 more on Reddit haha.
What would be the best way to remove the white residue splotches?

Let me guess, you caught a bunch of mackerel? that’s what the scales look like, and they just get all over absolutely EVERYTHING
I say enzymatic cleaners. There’s some I use for smells my cats and dogs leave behind. Being that barnacles basically weave themselves onto surfaces using a protein spun fiber, it may work?
Other than that, strong Rubbing alcohol? I’d avoid acetone as it doesn’t a great job of killing, but it also does well to degrade and damage plastic.
