So I do most of my fishing off a pier in oceanside, CA and have had horrible luck with my rod that has 20lb green braided mainline but my smaller rod with mono mainline gets a lot of bites, they both are using the same sabiki rigs and it got me wondering if the fish can see the braided line and it discourages them from going after the bait?

Try tying on a leader line to the braided line to see if that makes a difference. Typically I don’t really notice a difference but I don’t fish the ocean
I have this same problem at my freshwater spot. My daiwa beef stick rarely gets a nibble and when it does has the bait stolen almost every time. The ugly stick dock runner, on the other hand, gets all the bites and some hefty fish. No clue what the deal is but wondered the same thing last night.
Fish can see braid but most ocean fish won’t care, some super line shy fish maybe but I’ve caught alot of fish on braid.
That ugly little dude looks like a lizard fish. I swear those fish are so aggressive they’ll eat shit the same size as them😂
The little one is a lizard fish
First one I’m sure it’s a Lady fish, the second one is Lizard fish (snook candy)
