In the past I used a 6wt 7’ rod for this little chalkstream here in Austria but the rod was just to stiff for these extremely spooky trout. Always caught nice little browntrout, thus I wasn’t expecting a big trout. Well, this is the first fish I caught with my new 3wt 8’ setup 😀 you really wouldn’t expect a fish like this from such a nice little river. Pictures wont really show the true size, I quickly measured it but was in a hurry to get it back safe, especially because browntrout are protected at this time of the year here in Austria.
