I’ve been fly fishing for most of my life and this was my first time fishing in Maine. Not knowing where to go I fished a dam outflow and this guy hit an olive bugger. Probably sounds stupid but I never knew bass could live in rivers.

Smallmouth are some of the most fun river fish in North America. While they are MUCH easier to get to bite than trout, they also fight harder.
You can also find other bass in rivers, but generally once the water starts moving fast it’s Smallies.
