Got the Garmin striker 4 and originally planned to drill holes and mount to my kayak but this portable option works better for me. I plan to mount the transducer in the hull behind my seat and the finder will be on my right.
I chose to power it with a m18 battery using a 12v step down as I already had the battery so it would be cheaper for me to just buy the connector/step down combo rather than a 12v battery or fish finder specific battery.
The finder has a detaching base so I can pop it off and still be able to use the handle of the box to carry everything around.
Thinking of putting silicone around the power cable hole so the box will be water tight(ish) and hopefully float in the event I tip my kayak. At least long enough for me to grab it.
