I recently bought this combo at a local Mom and pop fishing store. I kind of explained to them that I was looking to do trail fishing for one time but mainly interested in doing peer fishing just because of where I live near. Just want to confirm that the set up for the most part is good for picking up stripper, halibut and other bay fish. I live in San Francisco and recently have hit up Brisbane pier, South San Francisco pier and I don’t know too many other places to go fishing in this part of the Bay Area. Any recommendations would be great.
Also, any recommendations for bait, lures or anything. Currently, I’m running monofilament line that is 12 pounds.

I like the 4000 size reel. Here in jersey im.chasing striped bass with a 10ft rod rated to throw up to 3 oz
1oz is pretty light. In UK its 3-4oz. It’s not only being able to handle the fish. It’s winching them up the side too. If using this I would 100% have a drop net too
