I bought some soft plastic lures for drop fishing and trying the Carolina rig for the first time. Hoping to try it against sea bass.

Alas, I have left them in another part of the country and can’t get them before the weekend. Just ran to the small local tackle shop which didn’t have any soft plastics I can pass through a hook.

How should I rig this lure? Can I still use it as part of a drop rig with a loop attaching it to a swivel? Could I do the same on the Carolina rig?

Any recommendations? I’m just looking to do something different to using feathers and spinning a single lure.

  1. I would just tie it on the line and retrieve it like you would any paddle tail. I reel mine in a variety of ways from a straight retrieve to jerking it back in to bottom bumping it.

Got similar myself for a spinning session on the sea. Tied one on like you would a hook and then the second directly to the line further up to use both lures at once

  3. This is a sandeel type paddle tail swimbait. You just cast and retrieve it, occasionally jerking it. Not sure I understand your issue. What are you missing?

These are intended to be tied on via your favourite connection, cast and then retrieved as a swimbait you can also jerk it a bit too.

They have a large jighead attached as a part of the lure so you won’t be able to dropshot it and a Carolina rig is unnecessary.
