Hi friends! I started fishing ~3 months ago, and am ready to upgrade from my cheap set up. My budget is <$300. I’d love any opinions on these 4 combos, or other recommendations!
🐠Here’s info about me & what I’m looking for:🐠

•I’m in south east Florida by the beach in Palm Beach county.
•I mostly fish from shore at inlets, jettys, spillways, ponds/lakes, and canals. I occasionally kayak or hop on a friend’s boat. Nothing crazy.
•Targeting inshore species like Snapper, Snook, Jacks, etc. (but would like the ability to maybe handle something bigger like a Tarpon in case one bites).
•I tend to bang up my gear a bit and need something durable (and resistant to the saltwater!)
•Easy to maintain and beginner friendly!
•I’m a 5’ tall woman, so I am worried about PENN being a bit heavy based on other’s comments? I really need the help with reeling in bigger fish, which is a struggle with my current lighter tackle 😅

Finally, I’d like something versatile to take from freshwater canal Snakeheads, to the jetty to catch Snook. I /think/ a 5000-6000 reel would do the trick, but I really need some advice from experts. Thank you to anyone who can comment some insight 💕

  1. I don’t personal fish salt, but in past I’ve heard ppl do for smth like a medium heavy or heavy, with 7’ or longer. I’ve heard great things about both the Penn Battle and Penn Spinfisher line. My personal philosophy is that I get whatever seems like it’ll last me a life time. So watching videos on quality and reading reviews is great. Also going and finding places to check out the gear in person is smth I do or try to do
