Not sure if this is the subreddit to post to but i’m desperate. I recently got this Abu Garcia reel with this rod and i’m having trouble casting out farther than a few meters. I swabbed it, cleaned it, put new reel oil on every rotating part of this reel and even tried a different rod with no difference. The reel spins amazingly by itself when the drag is down which makes me think it’s fine, but it keeps catching and dragging. I’ve used bait casters before with nothing like this happening.

I think it’s your line
By “drag” do you mean free spool? I.e. when you press the thumb bar to engage the free spool? First guess would be check what your spool tension and brake are set to. Not familiar with that particular reel, but in my experience if the spool spins freely in free spool like you’re showing but casting is difficult its a result of not dialing in those other two settings correctly.
