Brother and I went backpacking up to a decommissioned fire lookout for few cold nights (Shorty Peak) in northern Idaho last week. While flyfishing wasn't the main objective on this trip, I couldn't help but bring my kit to find something nearby. Caught a few small trout in the clear, calm pools in Cow Creek at the foot of the mountain. My 6wt was a little overkill, but it's all I had with me. 10/10 would recommend Idaho. Bring bear spray!
