I recently bought a new 7’6” Okuma SST Medium power MH power MF action for inshore fishing in the San Francisco Bay. Unfortunately on my very first outing with it I misjudged a particularly slimy rock and ate shit. I nearly saved the rod but tapped it on the very tip which snapped.

Lessons learned, sneakers cursed, and a couple weeks later I have a replacement tip from Okuma in hand.

I’m just wondering, is there any reason to try to keep this tip section or should I toss it? I’ve seen repair kits that put an eyelet on the end but I know that messes with the action/sensitivity of the rod.
