An absolute banger long weekend in the High Sierra and Eastern Sierra! September and October are great for trout as crowds die down and water cools off.
- 23" rainbow at Saddlebag Lake (PB!)
- Big-headed brook trout near Saddlebag (I was told there isn't a lot of food for them at 10,000 feet so their bodies don't grow alongside their heads, making them big-headed)
- Handsome brown out of (the very hard to fish) Lee Vining Creek
- Owens River with the first snowstorm of the year blowing in over the mountains
- Sunrise from Lee Vining
This place is heaven!

Hoping you at least ate your pb after gillfucking it.
Trout arent bass. Thats a dead fish. Inb4 “swam away fine”.
Looks like s good trip otherwise.
Sweet! How’d you do on the Upper Owens?
