PIcked up a Tatula 100 back in May and fished it alot this summer, few weeks ago it went from reeling in completely smooth to where i could feel the teeth of the gears contacting if that makes sense, it's not a gritty sand/dirt between the gears feeling. Proceeded to do the typical maintenance of cleaning and then greasing w/ Penn's precision grease and it only slightly improved it but i can still feel the teeth of the gears engaging. I've gone back multiple times using varying amounts of grease from using less to more and its always the same, won't go back to the smoothness it was out of the box. Of note is that my grease isn't blue like ive seen alot of people post its the color in my pic but ive also gotten and returned some from amazon as well as basspro and they were the exact same color. Also pretty sure it's not a damage or assembly issue as ive checked both the pinion and main gear for damage, as well as the worm gear and pawl and theres no chips or broken teeth. I've also fished w/ it numerous times w/out any issues so i know im reassembling it properly.

Everytime i take it back apart and look between the teeth no matter how much or little grease i use it looks like theres hardly any grease there and the pinion is completely dry. Beginning to think the grease is the problem and just doesnt work well w/ how fine the teeth are in the Daiwa gears. Next step is to try a thicker grease, any recommendations? Next one ill likely try is Cal's tan or the Lews casting grease cause i can snag it at the Academy up the road. Open to any input as im out of my element at this point.
